Once upon a time I ran a folk club with my friend Nicky Leahy called "The Rakes Of Kildare" and any and everyone whose famous today in Irish Trad/Folk/Rock 'n' Roll played in that club - Christy Moore, Donal Lunny, Luka Bloom, Mary Black, Paul Brady, Freddie White, Andy Irvine, Na Fili, Liam O'Flynn, Sean Keane, Jimmy Crowley, Paddy Glacken, Tony McMahon, the list goes on and on. The club ran for about three years in the mid seventies in Newbridge. I've written about two and a half thousand songs or maybe more, it's an addiction, I write one and throw it in the corner and re discover it about a year or so later and think "did i write that?!"... But it's all fun - better go now cos i feel a song comin on and the first line goes - "See you in the spring when the sun kicks in
